When a company first goes public or just after a financing most often there are tranches of shares that are locked – meaning they are not tradable by the owner – for some agreed upon period of time.

When there is a significant portion of the float becoming tradable in the near future it’s often a good time to look into how the company is doing and what the holders of those newly “Free Trading” shares might do.

Take a look at the following excerpt from The Free Trade Report Below.

Here we see that BYND has a nice, tight share structure with only 29.5M shares outstanding. Roughly 16.4M of those shares were locked up prior to April 26, 2021 – meaning prior to that date only 29.5M – 16.4M = 13.1M shares were free trading (13.1M share float.)

Since then BYND has had roughly 4M shares added to its float bringing the current total up to 17.1M shares in the float.

On April 26 of this year, 2022, another 2.5M shares will come to be tradable. 2.5M/17.1M = 15% increase in the float on that unlock date.

Further note that the share price has increase substantially since listing. In fact, current share price is $5.75 CAD. This means that all of those early share holders who have had their shares escrowed are massively in the money.

Will BYND’s early shareholders take profit? I don’t know but it’s worth looking into the company’s fundamentals and finding out if a dip from these newly free trading shares will provide a buying opportunity.
